Since last year, we have been keeping track of the intricacies of the Chinese domain market, reporting on trends and sales.

China is the 2nd largest economy in the world, and an emerging market that combines Western style capitalism with China’s political system; we call this mix “Communist Capitalism.

The story behind the LLLL “Chips” that propelled China’s domain market last year has come and passed, and while more Chinese domain investors are pouring money into the market, the majority lack direction, not capital.

We keep track of short domain sales between 2 to 4 characters in length, for .CN, .COM and .NET TLDs. Not everything makes it on this list, but we focus on notable sales representing the majority of the market.

Numbers play an important role in domain sales and repeating sequences, such as “666” are not considered unlucky or even satanic.
