Google executive Alan Eustace beat Felix Baumgartner’s skydiving record two days ago, but it didn’t last too long.
Indian domain entrepreneur, Divyank Turakhia broke Eustace’s record this morning, performing a breath-taking jump from the edge of space.
The new altitude record for a free-falling person now stands at 151,822 feet, or 46.2753 kilometers.
“It was beautiful. I could see India from the edge of space, and the sun shining from above made everything so serene and incredibly magnificent,” said Divyank Turakhia, who is the first Indian to almost reach space.
“I felt the presence of all mankind encouraging me to dive down below, back home, flying like Garuda to embrace all humanity. What a revelation, so exhilarating!” exclaimed Turakhia, waving at friends and family after he successfully landed in the Mongolian Gobi desert where the feat took place.
The space jump was sponsored by Skenzo, India’s premier domain parking company.
With such a great accomplishment, it is very clear that India has developed a great interest in the space-jumping program; Divyank Turakhia will most likely form a commercial company other daredevils can utilize.
