Facebook announced the rollout of its new Messenger Rooms feature, clearly in direct competition with popular Zoom.
The Messenger Rooms service will let people start group video chats that can be joined by up to 50 people. These rooms can be created on both Facebook and Messenger, and Facebook said it plans to add the feature to Instagram and WhatsApp soon.
Messenger Room operators will be able to keep their room private, block unwanted participants, along with invite people who are not on Facebook.
Meanwhile, the domain MessengerRooms.com is up for sale at Afternic, and the asking price is $20,000 dollars.
It was registered last year, and it seems that the Polish registrant has had inside information, as the feature was extensively tested in Poland by Facebook.
Will Facebook buy the domain, as they did with Messenger.com?
