During NamesCon in Las Vegas, eating at restaurants was part of the daily routine.
In the morning, I’d have a hefty buffet breakfast, full of protein to keep me through half the day; instead of lunch, I’d go through snacks and have a couple of large latte coffee cups, until dinner time.
Tipping is part of the American culture.
The quintessential 20% indicates you’re happy with the service, and you’re acknowledging the services provided. The people that prepare, serve or deliver your food receive your tip as part of their wages, sometimes as their only compensation.
It’s best to overtip, than to undertip. The best way to quickly calculate your tip is to divide by ten, then double up. So if your latte is $4.75, that’s about a dollar.
Don’t be a jerk and forget to tip.
Sure, the cafe club lady from Serbia that prepared my coffee and spoke 4 languages would not complain, but her appreciation was heart-felt every time I added that extra buck.
Some dickhead employees at a car dealership decided to not only stiff a pizza delivery guy but humiliate him on camera. But karma is a bitch, and not only some got fired, but Jarrid, the pizza delivery guy who handled this humiliation graciously, is expected to receive more than $25,000 in donations.
Remember: Tip the great people that service you at NamesCon, and elsewhere. Also, read TipThePizzaGuy.com for more information about those that bring you the pie.
