#Domain rebranding: HQ Raleigh moves to .COM from a .Community top level domain

Coworking firm HQ Raleigh is moving to a .COM after a lawsuit accelerated its existing plans for domain rebranding.

The North Carolina start-up has been operating from a dot .Community domain name, HQ.Community.

A lawsuit that was filed by a subsidiary of the office space provider Regus earlier this year, accusing HQ Raleigh of trademark infringement, apparently accelerated the process.

HQ Raleigh possesses a trademark for its brand but decided to move on to a new name and domain regardless, to avoid wasting time and money on litigation.

The new name is Raleigh Founded, along with the matching .com domain RaleighFounded.com.

While the move entails moving from a memorable, 11 letter domain inclusive of the TLD, to one with 17 letters, it’s probably for the best. Dot .Community is a Donuts TLD, with approximately 17,000 registered domains.
