Domain sightings are encounters with domain names in the real world.
You’ve seen them before: on vehicles, business signs, business entries, even on product packaging. These domain names “in the wild” are grouped in two main categories: dot .com domains, and everything else.
This time around we have a fun case of “HUGE truck, tiny domain.”
Take a look at this huge semi spotted in Yuba City, California, by one of our domain friends. The domain can barely be seen:
The truck’s usable space is so big, it could easily accommodate the maximum length of a domain name: 63 characters. And yet, it’s a short, dashed domain name, M-V-T.com.
Registered in 1998, this domain stands as an acronym for Mesilla Valley Transportation, a trucking company that began in 1982 as a small independent fleet in the Southwest.
They could easily fit MesillaValleyTransportation.com on there – if only they owned it. 😀
