Anyone that has listed and sold domains on Sedo will know that domainer deadbats do exist.
While there are no official statistics from Sedo about how many auctions or purchases end up being unpaid, deadbeats on Sedo seem to exist in every country, including the US.
Sedo reveals the information of the buyer, several days after a sale does not get paid for. It is up to the seller to then proceed with taking action against the deadbeat, as Sedo simply bans them from its marketplace.
We have a list of proposed punishments for deadbeats on Sedo and you can decide for yourself whether they are too harsh or too lenient. 🙂
- Testicular modification for the males and shaving of the hair for the female deadbeats.
- Tar and feathers: it worked in the wild west, it will work now.
- Visit to their address by chain yielding skinheads that would tear down their house.
- Public flogging while being pelted by rotten tomatoes and cabbage.
- Dipping in pine honey and release in the nude at a bear habitat in the woods. Think, Hunger Games.
Hopefully, after a couple of those treatments the domainer deadbeats would come up with the money to pay for their purchases! 😀

Isn’t Sedo now pre-qualifying it’s bidders? At any rate, like with any other purchase, the buyer should retain a window for an out in true capitalist tradition.
