Bill Karamouzis, the domain investor and domain developer from Canada, announced his candidacy for CIRA.

The Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA) is the organization that manages the .CA domain space on behalf of all Canadians.

Said Karamouzis:

“I’ve been a developer for most of my life and always watched CIRA from the sidelines. I think they have done an good job thus far but there are areas I’ve been critical of them in the past. This year, rather then complain I thought I’d try my best to get elected and try and improve the areas I felt need changing.”

Bill Karamouzis is thus joining the “politics” of the Canadian registry, and he seems rather serious about it, having prepared a lengthy introductory statement:

“Thank for you taking the time to review my candidate statement for election to the board of directors in the 2013 CIRA election. The information below is a summary of some of the ideas, experiences and goals I’d like to share with you.

First and foremost, I am an entrepreneur, an Internet developer and a small business owner. I am running for election because I believe my experiences owning various Internet ventures will have a positive impact on the governance of CIRA as it faces new challenges and opportunities. I’m passionate about domain names and hope that is reflected in the information below.”

We have no doubt that Bill Kara’s contribution to the Canadian Internet Registration Authority will greatly assist with a successful move forward, in the near future. You can read Bill’s full statement here.
