The Digital Citizens Alliance released its latest report on questionable practices by domain speculators, last month.
Titled “Domains of Danger: How Website Speculators and Registrars Trade Internet Safety for Profit,” the report identifies core issues in domain investing that enable criminal activities:
- COVID and Domains: Profiting From Fear and Panic
- Sex Trafficking & Domains
- Dangerous Drugs and the Domain Industry
What is the Digital Citizens Alliance?
According to the report, it’s a Washington, DC based nonprofit, 501(c)(6) organization that is “a consumer-oriented coalition focused on educating the public and policymakers on the threats that consumers face on the Internet. Digital Citizens wants to create a dialogue on the importance for Internet stakeholders—individuals,government, and industry—to make the Web a safer place.”
