According to a release by the Registry managing dot .BANK domains, during the first 10 minutes of General Availability more than 3,000 applications were received.
That’s in addition to the 782 applications for .BANK domains that were reserved during the Sunrise Period, for banks whose names have previously been registered in an international trademark directory.
During the General Availability period, dot .BANK domains are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.
The average registration price for .BANK domains appears to be $850 dollars per year, a price that would not deter banks and financial institutions, obviously.
Who can register dot .BANK domain names?
Only verified members of the banking community can have a .BANK domain, and eligibility will be verified by the global Internet security firm Symantec.
