The domain FM.net sold for $70,000 dollars at Sedo, and the buyer is Featherston Media, an information technology and services company based in Waxahachie, Texas.
This was the top sale at Sedo last week, and the buyer is upgrading from FeatherstonMedia.com to a really nice, short and aged LL .net.
We contacted Featherston Media asking why they went with the FM.net domain and the response was:
- It was short and available – matching the company initials
- The .net TLD stands for “network” – a great match for any IT company
So who was the seller of FM.net?
Registered in early 1996, this aged, two letter .net domain was last seen in the possession of Briton Alex Hydes, who had parked it on Sedo since August 2006.
That’s a record 14 years “for sale” on Sedo, and the wait was definitely worth it.
The sale of FM.net is the #1 recorded sale of a two letter .net domain. Out of the top 5 sales of LL .net domains, Sedo now boasts three!
fm.net $70,000 2020-06-02 Sedo
pf.net $51,720 2015-12-30 NameJet
tl.net $40,000 2018-10-01 Sedo
bd.net $29,500 2015-05-13 Sedo
ng.net $25,000 2016-05-17 NameJet
Of course, we are not sure exactly how much the buyer of PC.net paid for but it was more than $50k.
