French Police: Domaining.com must be in French from now on

Those of you who took French classes at school, consider yourself lucky. For the “uneducated” among domainers, time to get hold of  a French tutor and a good dictionary, as times are changing.

Domaining.com – the brainchild of French domainer entrepreneur, Francois Carrillo – was contacted by the French Police yesterday.

Paris Police Commissioner Jean Lefèvre explains:

“We receive of course complain from center for promotion of culture of Republique Francaise, and what we see? Domain in English language! Horrifique! This fights law in France, we had talk Francois change or pay fine and go jail.”

The French legal system is very clear: any business based in France must display its information primarily in the French language, with other languages being a secondary option. Domaining.com is currently in English only and that’s against the French law.

We contacted Francois Carrillo briefly, who stated:

“I have to respect the law but I don’t like, I don’t like. Silly people, I use translator for English but also speak Spanish. What to do, I will comply, absolument!”

In the coming days, the prominent placement of the French flag will be introduced as well, along with the automatic translation of all syndicated content in French. It’s time for every domainer to visit France, hire a French “au pair” or at least, buy some French bread at the store.
