IDN domains: Some fine crap on Sedo

Careful about IDN domain crap on Sedo.

IDN domains have been around for several years, in an effort to convince the ‘native’ speakers of several languages who don’t use the Latin (ASCII) character set, that they have a purpose in online life.

There is, however, a category of IDN domains that defines them as pure ‘crap’ as a whole.

That’s right: because of the abuse of the IDN function by some bad domainer apples, the entire IDN function and purpose is rendered useless.

A large set of IDN domains on sale on Sedo caught our eye; all from the same seller who appears to be from Ukraine.

These domains are registered on purpose to confuse potential buyers on Sedo, into thinking that they are acquiring a generic domain of purely ASCII letters.

Examples from that sale include the following domains, that are all faking their existence:

рһр.com

һі.com

һе.com

оһ.com

хі.com

3ԁ.com

сԁ.com

іԁ.com

ԁј.com

ѕһор.com

ѕһор.net

ѕһорѕ.com

ѕехѕһор.com

аррѕһор.com

рсѕһор.com

оһіо.com

іԁаһо.com

ѕау.com

ѕеа.com

ѕһір.com

ѕһоеѕ.com

оорѕ.com

һарру.com

Note how all of those IDN domains are intentionally registered in order to confuse. These aren’t native words in an IDN character set, but rather, domain doppelgangers.

While Sedo publishes the punycode of these domains at the individual domain’s auction pages, they are not marked as such on the listing of Featured or Top Domains; an overly excited or careless domain bidder can easily bid on those ‘bastardized‘ IDN domains.

Buyer beware!
