Instagram, the photo sharing meta-filter service and app, has updated its brand today.
Dropping the realistic-looking camera image that used to be its logo, Instagram switched to a simple, abstract representation of a camera and lens.
We definitely love it. 😀
“The Instagram community has evolved over the past five years from a place to share filtered photos to so much more — a global community of interests sharing more than 80 million photos and videos every day. Our updated look reflects how vibrant and diverse your storytelling has become.”
The new design is definitely more scalable and through its minimalist elements it delivers what the old brand did, and more.
Instagram revealed the new brand design that also affects its other app suite, for Layout, Boomerang and Hyperlapse.
Earlier this year, Facebook transferred the domain Instagram.com to its own domain registrar, perhaps as an attempt to protect it from an ongoing lawsuit in China.
