The domain names HabeasCorpus.com, BruceSpringsteen.com, and BigSecrets.com have something in common and it’s not just the TLD.
All these premium domains, along with approximately 1,500 others, are operated by Canadian domain investor Jeff Burgar, who has opted to stay out of the limelight even when UDRP cases are filed.
No known pictures of Jeff Burgar exist and an existing “video” interview was actually staged: the responses were read back by the interviewer, Michael Cyger.
Jeff Burgar operates Alberta Hot Rods along with the domain HotRods.com and has been linked to several UDRP cases, the most notorious one involving the domain BruceSpringsteen.com. Burgar won that case back in 2001 and has lost and won some ever since.
While Jeff Burgar and his Alberta Hot Rods franchise are primarily known for owning (and losing) CelineDion.com and DavidDuchovny.com via the UDRP process, they own some truly premium, generic gems that—for some odd reason—don’t seem to resolve:
- HabeasCorpus.com
- BigSecrets.com
- Blondes.com
- 24kt.ccom
- BadJokes.com
- Ballsy.com
- FederalGovernment.com
- Ivanna.com
- Kissy.com
- Margaret.com
Some others are direct matches of famous people such as authors and actresses:
- GeorgeOrwell.com
- JodieFoster.com
- HGWells.com
- LindaEvangelista.com
- BruceSpringsteen.com
It’s not clear what Jeff Burgar plans to do with these domains that don’t resolve and also have WHOIS privacy on.
BruceSpringsteen.com does resolve, however, displaying PPC ads about upcoming concerts by the Boss.
