Matt Bentley: From Sedo to SEO and CanIRank

Matt Bentley had a successful career at Sedo; in the recent past he has been working on Can I Rank – an SEO service that does all the dirty work for you.

Designed to deliver results compatible with Google’s ever-changing algorithms, CanIRank.com launched its latest release today, offering a 50% discount across all services.

The secret, according to Can I Rank, is less SEO delivering higher traffic to your web site. This might sound like a paradox to many domain investors, but there is a logic model behind this claim.

According to the Can I Rank web site:

“CanIRank’s powerful technology is the result of over two years of research and development, driven by one goal: to make SEO more transparent and accessible, giving small businesses, bloggers, ecommerce stores, and non-profits a chance to compete against the mega-corporations and their $10,000/ month SEO consultants. Using modern data analytics, we analyzed over 200,000 websites to determine which factors really drive high rankings.”

Matt announced that he’s been working on this release for the past several months. The result is an SEO tool so intelligent it’s like having an expert SEO consultant on call 24 hours a day, right in your computer.

Thanks for the writeup! The rationale behind the “less is more” SEO philosophy is that these days Google aggressively targets traditional SEO techniques, so last year’s best practices are this year’s penalty triggers. The best way to avoid getting stuck in that trap is to do the least aggressive SEO possible. CanIRank enables this in two ways: 1) we help you find keywords where your site is already considered authoritative, so you can rank without having to do a lot of SEO; and 2) we show you what it will take for you to rank, so you can make only the changes necessary (and not use a bazooka where a knife would suffice, since that’s the kind of thing that ultimately always leads to penalties).

Great job, Matt. Expert systems that take care of the hard work while one focuses on the goal, are the way of the future. Love the bazooka/knife analogy. 😀
