The founder of RemoteOK.com acquired the short domain ROK.co, to be used as a URL shortener for job postings published on his job-seeking board, RemoteOK.
The domain name ROK.co was acquired this week for $8,141 dollars, according to the RemoteOK CEO’s statement:
This week I bought ROK.CO for $8,141 and made it a short link service for Remote OK Link symbol Which means I can give jobs super short links like rok.co/i
Each shortened link will arrive with a $49 dollar price tag, allowing the RemoteOK founder to recoup the cost of the ROK.co acquisition cost. ROK.co was registered in 2010 and was used by a British company.
In November 2021, the RemoteOK CEO stirred controversy, referring to his acquisition of the domain name RemoteOK.com for $102,000 dollars as an act of engaging with a “squatter.”
Yesterday, the RemoteOK founder acknowledged that switching his brand’s domain name from RemoteOK.io to RemoteOK.com generated a great response matched by increased traffic.
Update: The domain ROK.CO was acquired on Sedo for the sum of 6,000 GBP.
