Veteran domain broker, Ryan Colby, led Outcome Brokerage through a round of successful sales and acquisitions.
After launching Domain Academy, an educational seminar venture, Colby tapped into the world of blockchain technology and the cryptocurrencies.
We met with Ryan Colby during MERGE! 2017, in Orlando, Florida, and sat down to talk about his current future plans.
DomainGang : What led you to step aside from the domain brokerage activity and into blockchain?
Ryan Colby : Having studied and researched the blockchain concept and underlying technology, I decided to transition away from domain brokering.
Currently, only 5% of my business is related to domain brokerage, with 95% of my time focused on important blockhain-related projects.DomainGang : Ryan, tell us more about your current business.
Ryan Colby : I founded Token Fest LLC in Charlotte, Nortch Carolina. It’s a media and events company that serves the blockhain industry.
I had a “light bulb moment” and formed the company and upcoming event for the business and technology associated with blockchain, including cryptocurrencies.
There has been no previous definitive event for the enterprise market in the blockchain space. A large part of my business is aimed at senior level executives that are currently exploring the use of blockchain technology.
DomainGang : What is your view of the blockchain technology?
Ryan Colby : I call it the “blockchain revolution” and it’s the biggest fundamental shift of technology in decades, having an effect not just in how we conduct business in the future, but humanity overall.
DomainGang : That’s quite an impressive vision. Tell us some details about your past experience as a professional.
Ryan Colby : I’ve an extensive background as a conference producer, having produced such events as the IDG World in Boston, along with producing the events for Mac World and Linux World.
I’m a serial entrepreneur, I launch, start and brand companies, moving on to the next enterprise.
DomainGang : Tell us about Token Fest, and when will it take place?
Ryan Colby : Token Fest is an exclusive, two day networking event focused on the business and technology of tokenization. It takes place in San Francisco on March 15 and 16, 2018.
Attendees will gain a wealth of insights and information about the state of the token-based economy while networking with over 700 senior level thought leaders, and how blockchain disrupts the current paradigm.
Token Fest brings together business professionals from blockchain based enterprises including CEOs, end users, entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, investors, regulators, attorneys & developers to network and collaborate.
DomainGang : What do you foresee for the future, and why is the blockchain important?
Ryan Colby : The concept of decentralization, as opposed to the centralized models, is the future of business. That’s what the blockchain is all about.
We plan to work with government regulators to weed out any existing issues and to protect and educate the public, in this new emerging economy.
