Have you ever wanted to place an offer on domains listed at Sedo, only to be concerned that you’d give away your location and affect the asking price?
Since the introduction of the disclosing of the buyer’s and seller’s location a few years ago, many systematic buyers acquired notoriety; those that follow bids carefully soon realized that a particular bidder could be closely matched to their location.
“That guy from Spain kept bidding on my domains, one after the other”, says Marcus Keeper from Columbus, Ohio.
“After a while I’d check the WHOIS and sure enough, it was Enrique Maria de la Cruz, time and again. So I’d price my domains higher, and in euro”, he adds with a smirk.
The Sedo service will offer the opportunity to buyers to create an identity shield that would allow them to appear to be from large countries such as the US, Canada or the UK.
“We are introducing Geolocatrix as a cost-effective product to all of our users on August 1st”, says Mara from the Sedo Product Management team. “For a small annual fee of just $199, buyers can thus hide their true geolocation, so if you are for example from Poland you can appear to be coming from the US, that’s what the seller would see.”
The new Geolocatrix product will be a strong element alongside the others being offered by Sedo. The Geolocatrix introduction coincides with the raising of the fees that Sedo keeps from sales; surely, a method to steer attention away from this unpleasant change.
I feel sorry for the poor fella who registered geolocatrix.com lol
