Startup buys Pickle.com as domain rebranding from .AI

Pickle is a start-up funded by early seed rounds; the company uses AI to train its software on people’s videos and provide them with a “shell” or “double” that can then lip-sync live.

Boasting a 0.3 second lag or delay in response, the videos can be used in real time. Since its formation last year, the company has already signed up more than 1,000 paid users and just announced a major domain rebranding, moving from GetPickle.ai to the super generic Pickle.com.

The domain appears to have been acquired from its previous owners directly as it was in use and not listed in any aftermarkets. Registered in 1995, Pickle.com is one of these generic domains that can become great brands, such as Apple.

Pickle was co-founded by AI engineers from the Department of Medicine and Computer Science in South Korea and has received funding from Y Combinator and NFX. Pickle is also backed by the Los Angeles venture firm Krew Capital.

Pickle runs on macOS currently and customers can use a variety of conferencing apps to utilize their videos with, such as Zoom, Google Meet, and Teams.
