Symbolics.com – the first domain name ever to be registered – turned 29 years old today.
The domain name Symbolics.com was registered on Friday, March 15th, 1985 by Symbolics, Inc., a computer manufacturer headquartered in Cambridge, Massachusetts at the time.
In 2009 Symbolics.com was sold to XF Investments, owned by domain investor Aaron Meystedt, who eventually turned the domain into a digital museum of domain history.
Happy birthday, Symbolics.com! 😀

“Symbolics-the first domain name ever to be registered”……I always thought Nordu(dot)net was the first domain registered. Symbolics being the first dot com…….Happy Birthday Symbolics!….
Aaron – Nordu.net was ‘reserved’, not registered 😉 Symbolics.com was the first domain that was applied for, approved and registered.
Thank you for the clarification. Truly appreciated.
Happy birthday, Symbolics!
