Terminator 5, long rumored to be named “Terminator Genesis“, received its official name – Terminator Genisys – and a 2015 launch date.
As announced by Skydance Productions that handles the expected blockbuster, the movie will arrive at theaters worldwide on July 1st, 2015.
“We wrapped principal photography on TERMINATOR GENISYS, the first installment in our new stand-alone film trilogy set in, and paying tribute to, James Cameron’s classic sci-fi epic.
The official title of the film — which we just referred to during production as Terminator – was finally revealed this morning when Arnold posted the photo above online.
Directed by Alan Taylor, and written by Laeta Kalogridis and Patrick Lussier, TERMINATOR GENISYS represents our most active involvement in a project to date. David Ellison (our CEO) and Dana Goldberg (our CCO) produced the project, and have been deeply involved in every step of the project’s development, from breaking the story for the new trilogy, through full-time involvement on set during production.”
Researching historic WHOIS data at DomainTools, we were able to confirm that despite the current WHOIS protection on the domain name, TerminatorGenisys.com, the domain was indeed registered to Skydance Productions on March 3rd, 2014.
Great planning by the movie producers! 😀
The dot .org was registered yesterday, upon the announcement, by someone seemingly unrelated to the movie. Let the termination of squatters begin!
