Downloading your data from the soon-to-close Uni Market should not be complicated.
An email about the upcoming transition of domains listed at the Uni Market prompts users of the GoDaddy-owned platform to transition to Afternic.
While this is optional, getting your data out of the Uni Market was presented as a limited exporting of just 1 year’s worth of data.
We provided a workaround that allows certain users to export all of their data and that triggered an update by GoDaddy/Uni Market.
The update: You can now download multiple years of your data from the Uni Market and we’d like to assume that it’s the full range of dates that your account existed.
While this is a great update, it’s not the full data, however. According to the updated FAQ about the transition of your domains from the Uni Market to Afternic, here are two important entries:
- Is there an option to download older leads from more than a year ago?
Yes, you can download leads dating back more than a year. To do this, please reach out to Uni customer support. We only provide data from the following fields: Inquiry ID, Domain, Display Domain, Portfolio, Offer, Quote, Source, Status, Created, Updated, Sold Date, and Sold Price.- Does exported data also include emails?
No, emails are not included in the exported data, as this is a customer’s personally identifiable information (PII).
From the combined statements in the FAQ it’s clear that the allowed exported data, while going back more than a year, does not include important and valuable metrics that relate to a user’s account and the sales inquiries they received through the years! No such past offers are of any value when the sender or their email address cannot be exported.
Let’s be clear: all this information, including a sender’s name, email, and other info such as phone numbers they themselves provided when making an offer, or when inquiring on a domain name, was accessible to Domain Name Sales (DNS) and Uni Market accounts with every inquiry. At some point, the Uni Market stopped providing the IP address of the sender, but that was the only info that wasn’t transitioned from the original Domain Name Sales environment.
With this update, GoDaddy / Uni Market have chosen not to provide all this information at this time and it’s clear that it’s a decision the company made, not a technical inability to provide it.
