Visit Lorain County, a web site operated by Lorain County in Ohio, channeled most of its tourist traffic through the domain VisitLorainCounty.com.
Someone responsible for renewing the domain name didn’t pay the bill, however, and the domain ended up at the expired auctions at GoDaddy.

The Lorain County officials are not happy with the outcome, particularly because the domain now resolves to an online casino. The site was receiving between 55,000 and 65,000 visitors annually.
The county’s commissioner said:
“With Visit Lorain County having approximately $1.1 million in funds available, failing to renew the domain for $18 was unacceptable and leaves Lorain County residents and potential visitors without a place to get information about events.”
