Dot .cyou is a new gTLD currently in sunrise, which invites trademark holders to grab their matching .cyou domains.
Short for “see you,” the dot .cyou gTLD is aimed at “generation Z” folks. According to its Registry:
“The .cyou domain extension is also well-suited for innovative brands that embrace modern social media and want to scale their efforts to reach younger audiences.”
And that’s all kewl but we foresee a head to head battle with existing power horse, dot .icu which stands for “I see you.”
The .icu folk have bragging rights to the most populous new gTLD on the planet, with 6.2 million domain names.
Although it’s interesting to note that the majority of these domains are with Asian registrars after numerous promotions, there is no doubt that the entrance of dot .cyou might create confusion among non-English speakers.
The good news: Dot .cyou is rolled out by the same folks that brought you .icu, ShortDot SA.
Would you get a .cyou domain?
Cyou l8r, brah.
