WIPO to host advanced workshop on Domain Name Dispute Resolution

WIPO, the global leader in domain name dispute resolution, is holding its advanced workshop on Domain Name Dispute Resolution on November 7 and 8, 2023, in Geneva, Switzerland.

The workshop will cover key developments in decision precedent and procedure related to the Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy (UDRP), which provides a cost-effective and rapid mechanism for resolving trademark-based disputes in all generic Top-Level Domains (gTLDs) and many country code Top-Level Domains (ccTLDs).

Since December 1999 when the WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center (WIPO Center) received the first UDRP case, trademark owners from around the world have filed over 62,000 cases with WIPO covering nearly 112,000 domain names. Over 5,700 UDRP cases were filed with WIPO in 2022 alone!

The workshop is relevant for trademark owners, their counsel, registrars, and ccTLD administrators. The faculty will include experienced WIPO UDRP panelists, trademark counsel, and senior WIPO staff. A certificate of attendance will be provided for those seeking Continuing Legal Education (CLE) or Continuing Professional Development (CPD) credit.

Space is limited, and interested participants can send an email to arbiter.meetings@wipo.int to be informed once registration is open for this fee-based workshop.
