Matt Cutts, the illustrious SEO/spam baron of Google, explains in a new video how ccTLDs, when used creatively may or may not receive equal treatment from Google.
Cutts mentions that dot .CO – originally a ccTLD for Colombia – is now deemed generic and an alternative to .com.
As an opposite example, Cutts quotes that .li – the country code for Lichtenstein – isn’t treated the same way by Google for Long Island entrepreneurs to use. 😀
