Another day, another two letter domain has changed hands, and has been sold to a buyer in China.
Domain investor, George Kirikos, is reporting on Twitter that the super-premium, two-letter domain, NN.com, has changed onwership.
“Another elite 2-letter .com domain name has changed hands, as NN.com heads to China (where else?).”
Kirikos, has also updated his stats-keeping book, on the Chinese-owned percentage of two letter .com domains.
“By my count, 136 of the 676 2-letter .com domain names are now owned by Chinese registrants, breaking the 20% barrier (20.1% to be exact).”
USA registrants continue to own 375 of the 676 2-letter .com domain names (55.5%).”
The lucrative LL .com market has attracted staunch competition among domain venues and brokers, who compete for a slice of the rather limited pie.
There are only 676 two-letter .com domains available; some have been in corporate use from the late 1980’s.
Congratulations to the seller, and the new owner of the domain NN.com.
I heard through the grapevine, another 2-letter .com is heading to china very soon..
Mike – Many LL .com’s are being sold by domain brokers currently, for millions of dollars. This is the real, corporate side of the Chinese domain market.
