Wikipedia adds its 4 Millionth article
Wikipedia has crossed the 4 million article mark.
The English version of Wikipedia – the primary web site visited by millions of people worldwide – has just added article number “4 million“.
Wikipedia founder, Jimmy Wales, made the announcement a few minutes ago, stating:
“I am informed that English Wikipedia has passed the 4 million article mark. Awaiting final confirmation on which is the 4 millionth!”
Despite often receiving criticism from the academic community, this is definitely exciting news for Wikipedia and it shows that its model of global contribution works rather well.
