Time Magazine has been giving away “person of the year” awards since 1927.
Other notable persons of the year include:
- Adolf Hitler – 1938
- Joseph Stalin – 1939, 1942
- Ayatollah Khomeini – 1979
- George W. Bush – 2000
- Mark Zuckerberg – 2010
One can tell that this is no special club of people of any feats but rather, a collection of controversial individuals; some of which have hurt humanity.
In the same manner that Adolf Hitler damaged the world, Mark Zuckerberg created a pseudo-social network that divides more than unites. Mass adaptation does not equal success – or else we’d be goose-stepping to this date.
Still, not bad for a kid that stole someone else’s idea and project code.
Did Mark steal your lunch money as a kid or something? Regardless of opinion, Facebook is the biggest thing to come to the Internet besides Google. I’m not a fan yet I’m smart enough to know when someone has accomplished greatness.
Shane 😀 Mark’s lunch money was someone else’s. I don’t value success by magnitude. Facebook might be one huge corporation – that has yet to be profitable – but created a false sense of proximity among people. Social network? More like anti-social network. I’d rather see a humanitarian, an environmentalist or a scientist as person of the year. TIME Magazine’s selections have become a joke.
“I’d rather see a humanitarian, an environmentalist or a scientist as person of the year.” Right on!
