Temu is a global e-commerce platform owned by PDD Holdings, the company behind Chinese online marketplace Pinduoduo.
Launched in September 2022, Temu operates on a low-cost, direct-to-consumer model, competing with platforms like Shein, AliExpress, and Amazon in the budget e-commerce space through its factory-to-consumer approach, and it is understandably protective of its brand, operating from the domain Temu.com.
Behind the scenes, its North American operations are run by Whaleco Inc., the US-based subsidiary of PDD Holdings that serves as the legal entity for Temu in the region, handling logistics, payments, and compliance as the corporate structure supporting Temu’s expansion and regulatory obligations outside of China.

On two different occasions, we noted that Temu is extremely protective of its brand, especially with ccTLDs.
Earlier this year, more ccTLDs were added to the roster of ccTLD Temu domains that were retrieved via the UDRP process. But that did not stop there.
Temu is now targeting new gTLDs that are being squatted on; in a recent UDRP decision, Temu took control of the following domains from a Chinese cybersquatter:
temu.city
temu.fit
temu.fund
temu.gold
temu.host
temu.ink
temu.love
temu.red
temu.show
temu.social
temu.today
temu.video
temu.wiki
temu.zone
As a reminder, registering corporate or famous brands as domains for profit is the definition of cybersquatting.
