This is not the first time a typo sells for a considerable amount of money, it’s a practice that has generated plenty of revenue for domainers.
However, when that domain is a typo of a very specific, popular and active service then perhaps the motives are different.
Twitte.com, an obvious Twitter typo was just auctioned off on Sedo with an ending price of $25,100 after intense bidding.
The seller alleges that the domain Twitte.com receives about 3,000 daily visitors; according to Alexa ranking details it seems that 81% of its visitors go to Twitter following a visit to Twitte.com, with others to lesser destinations.
That can only mean one thing: conversion of traffic is minimal. Let’s hope the buyer of Twitte.com had plenty of cash to burn! 😀
Twitte twiddle DUMB to the buyer lmao
