GoDaddy CEO Bob Parsons sent a scary message today, appropriately timed to coincide with Halloween.
The GoDaddy founder used the usual scare tactics of mentioning imminent price increases for domain name registrations and renewals.
The message read:
IMPORTANT NOTICE: On January 15, 2012, Verisign® will increase prices for .COM and .NET domains. Beat the increase. Renew now for multiple years and save BIG!†
Bob Parsons did not mention to the millions of email recipients that the price increase of 7% will be mere cents to the dollar.
With this clever, scary and ambiguous message, the GoDaddy founder instilled fear and anxiety to the millions that own domains registered at GoDaddy – many of them will renew their domains today fearing that the price increase will be several dollars.
Hey presto, instant increase of revenue for GoDaddy just as the fiscal year 2012 begins!
Domainers, however, know better.
And what a better deal than moving your domain names to Fabulous.com – that would definitely scare Bob Parsons aplenty! 😀
Happy Halloween!
