Google needs to stop aging dead people further.
Google changes its landing page often, in order to celebrate special events such as Christmas, New Years but also, the passing of XXX years since the birth of famous people.
However, we’ve had it with the ‘birthday’ part, Google!
A birthday celebration ends with the death of a person, one does not celebrate their 54th birthday when they died in 1990 for Christ’s sake!
Dead people don’t age any more.
Today’s Google page is dedicated to Keith Haring – without a doubt, a great artist of the pop art movement – but Haring’s last birthday was his 31st.
Celebrating a dead person’s birthday is also insulting to their friends and family who want to preserve their memory “frozen” in time.
Overall, a very tacky move by Google.
Oh no, google is going to ban DG for speaking out.

Yeah Google is going overboard with this. I wouldn’t be surprised if the landing page changed every single day eventually. They need to have a different page for this type of thing so it is not intrusive to everyone. To be Frank I am sick of all of Google’s new gimmicks. All I will probably every use it for is web browsing, email, and youtube.

There are more doodles every year! There are already many more than there were in 2012! I can’t believe they are paying people to make so many pointless doodles (do they really have nothing better to do!?) A doodle should be more of a rare thing for holidays or the Olympics like you said, not something that happens almost (if not) every single day (I was right, it’s gotten that bad). They lose meaning and are just annoying when they are this common. What’s next? 2 or more doodles every day!?

DomainGang: I totally agree with you and have been wondering the same thing for years now. BTW, it’s 9 years after you posted this and Google STILL celebrates dead people’s NEW birthdays. Google, PLEASE STOP THIS TRADITION as it doesn’t make any sense!!!
I think it’s fine if they want to celebrate the life of a deceased person; however, they should be using the term “birth anniversary,” not birthday. It seems preposterous to say “his/her 142nd birthday” if the person isn’t around to count it and celebrate it for his or her self.
Don’t you mean New Year? We only celebrate one new year, the one following the one we are leaving behind.
It is New Year, not New Years. Last time we celebrated New Years was when we celebrated the change from the last thousand years to the next one.

I agree with this 100%. It is impossible for a deceased person to have a birthday. Like today they are claiming that it is Rosa Bonheur’s 200th birthday. I have no issue with them recognizing historical figures, but this whole “birthday after death” thing is just ridiculous.
I’m 10 years late weighing in, but i agree with your post 1000% domain gang. Not only do the dead not age, but when a person dies– the Creator of us all has spoken. There’s nothing more to be said about them. HE is the final judge of their character and actions.
