Was your Twitter account hacked?

Did hackers mess with your Twitter account?

Twitter sent an email to an unspecified number of its users, yesterday, urging them to log in and change their account password as the system reset it.

The email read in part as follows:

“Twitter believes that your account may have been compromised by a website or service not associated with Twitter.

We’ve reset your password to prevent others from accessing your account.”

There was also a link to change one’s account password, using a variety of upper/lower case letters, numbers and symbols.

It seems that the measure was unnecessary, as Twitter sent this notification to account holders that faced no issues with their accounts.

False alarm, for the majority of us – but it’s good practice to change the password often, and never share it among various accounts of services.
