A new web service, called Combined Domain Sales Report has been launched in private beta this week, by domain industry veterans Tom Smith, Dick Jones and Harry Williams.
“We were fed up with reading posts by every blogger about how many domains were sold on Sedo, Afternic, Flippa, NameJet and GoDaddy,” said Dick Jones, CTO of Domain Datas, a Mauritius company specializing in data crunching.
“Domainers deserve to access this information at a reputable source, and our Combined Domain Sales Report does just that,” added Jones, preparing a PDF of the report for us.
According to data reports by Domain Datas, readers of Domaining.com have been spending 265% more time than a year ago, wading through posts of lists, sales reports, re-posts of weekly and monthly sales and other such unverifiable information.
“That’s a lot of man years spent daily, to find unbiased information,” said Harry Williams, CEO of Domain Datas.
“Our report is validated by every sales venue and we stand by our product 100%” added Williams.
What makes the Combined Domain Sales Report unique, is that it assigns a reputation authority value exponent (RAVE) to every listing of domain sales. Currently, we were told that DNJournal gets a RAVE of 99 – the maximum value – as the most accurate source of information on domain sales.
Naturally, Domain Datas reserves the perfect 100 for themselves, as the report’s managers.
“It’s ridiculous how every Tom, Dick and Harry in this industry are publishing reports left and right, without verifying this information,” said Tom Smith, co-founder of Domain Datas.
“We’re shifting the paradigm, if you may, by having lunch twice a week with the management of all those companies we’re reporting on. It’s amazing what middle managers would do for a free lunch!” exclaimed Smith.
Domain Datas is currently looking for beta testers to fine-tune the quality of the Combined Domain Sales Report, before it goes live during the second quarter of 2013. Early participants will get a 50% discount of the product at launch time.
