The apparent announcement of the late Pope John Paul II’s beatification, has sent domain investors into a domain registration frenzy, according to Reuters.
Dozens of domain names, each one a variant of Pope John Paul II’s name are being registered, in an attempt to guess the final name of the newest saint in the Roman Catholic faith.
“I’ve been running this software I created, that produces all variations of strings, and then it checks DomainTools to see if the domain is taken,” said Florida domainer Jack Ronson.
“Although it’s fun and easy to use, I think it’d be a miracle if I hit the jackpot as most of the best Pope John Paul II domains are taken, from years ago!” exclaimed Ronson.
Thousands of faithful domainers around the world are excited regardless of the final name to be used for Pope John Paul II as a saint. It is an opportunity to pray and count one’s blessings.
“With ICANN being the Big Satan in today’s Internet, introducing gTLDs in such an unholy manner, now it’s the time to cluster together and seek strength and unity from our beloved Pope John Paul II,” said Miami entrepreneur Peter Eeter. “I pray that the devils of ICANN burn in the deepest of hells soon, for attempting to dismantle our faith to the .com!” added Eeter.
Pope John Paul II isn’t the first Pope that has excited domainers.
In March, domainer Bruce Marler won among other faithful as the best-suited person to become the first Pope Domainer.
i will pray to him to make most of my domains worth more than reg price. if that happens… then i will believe.
