In our open course detailing the biggest players in the gTLD arena, we’ve covered so far Frank Schilling’s Uniregistry, Paul Stahura’s Donuts, Inc. and the almighty Google.
All of them have spent millions of dollars applying at ICANN for dozens of gTLDs, at $185,000 a pop.
Coming right below Donuts, Inc. and Google in terms of the total number of applications, is Amazon – the online retail megastore.
With 76 gTLD applications, Amazon spent a tiny amount of its multi-billion cash reserves; for a total investment of $14,060,000 dollars.
Amazon stock currently trades above the $355 dollar per share mark, and things are looking rosy for the 2013 Holiday season.
While Amazon applied for the obvious, .AMAZON, .ZAPPOS, .IMDB and .KINDLE, they are rolling out applications for a huge consumer market with .BOOKS, .MUSIC, .MOVIE – all of which are going to be fought tooth and nail with other applicants.
Here is the complete list of gTLDs that Amazon has applied for. Are there any favorites on that list?
