After logging in and querying dozens of domains today via DomainTools, it became apparent that something was wrong with the reCAPTCHA function.
Simply put, there was no captcha form, and no way to look up any more domains after we hit the daily allocation limit.
This isn’t the fault of DomainTools, however, as the reCAPTCHA service – a free method of utilizing randomized text as a confirmation that one is truly human – apparently broke down about two hours ago.
Currently, there are issues connecting with web sites and applications such as Instagram, Cloudflare‘s challenge pages, imgur uploads, Blogger etc.
There is no official announcement about when the service will be restored, but clearly, it affects thousands of web sites that require it as a form of authentication.

Update: The service appears to be returning. Yay! 😀
