NAME.SPACE intends to beat ICANN and “break the Domain Insiders Cartel”

A new fundraiser rally is underway at Rally.org; the organizers are Name.Space, a company that claims to have established rights to “over 500 generic top-level domains” since 1996.

Name.Space operated hundreds of alternate top level domains using a proprietary Domain Name System (DNS), allowing users to create domains under .Art, .Wine, .Geek and hundreds more.

After suing ICANN in 2012, the case apparently is now pending an appeal, and that’s the purpose of the Rally.org fundraiser: raise $75,000 dollars in order to pay the legal fees for the Name.Space appeal.

Name.Space states that it will beat ICANN and “break the Domain Insiders Cartel“; the latter is a reference to corporations that are now controlling gTLDs matching those operated by Name.Space.

Definitely something to keep an eye on; for the Rally.org fundraiser, click here.
