Top 10 Deadly Disease domains: Who owns which dot .com

disease

Ignorance is also a disease.

We saw a lot of silly arguments about the right to use Ebola.com, from people that do not understand nor appreciate how domain investing works.

Here’s a list of the top 10 deadly diseases in reverse order, and who owns the respective .com domain, and what do they do with it:

  • Cancer.com – Owned by Johnson & Johnson. No active web site, currently.
  • Malaria.com – Owned by Epicenter Communications, the active site provides up to date information on the disease.
  • Tuberculosis.com – Owned by Sanofi Pasteur, a pharma company. The landing page announces the site’s ownership.
  • Diarrhea.com – Owned by Procter & Gamble, the live web site promotes commercial products controlling conditions of the digestive system.
  • Perinatal.com – Owned by Mednax, a medical group. The active web site displays content related to their business.
  • COPD.com (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) – Owned by GlaxoSmithKline corporation. The active web site is a resource portal.

  • LowerRespiratoryInfections.com – Unregistered, BuyDomains used to own it. If you really want it, it’s available.
  • Stroke.com – Owned by Sanofi, the French pharmaceutical giant. The live web site is used by Bristol-Myers Squibb, another mega-pharma corporation that Sanofi collaborates with.
  • IschemicHeartDisease.com – Privately owned and parked at Domain Name Sales, but without a for sale sign.

I couldn’t resist being one of those “top 10” (ha, ha) creepy “squatters” and took that ugly-looking longtail disease-ridden squatters’ name.

This is my first “disease” domain — I am prone to these respiratory infections.

    Just letting you know…

  2. DomainGang says:

LOL 😀 Good luck and keep some aspirin handy.

  3. LowerRespiratoryInfection.com, the singular, which is way better than the plural, is also available as of now.
Personally it’s a bit too long for our tastes 🙂
Frank (Schilling) owns RespiratoryInfection.com (the singular!), InnovationHQ holds UpperRespiratoryInfection.com, Elequa aka FMA owns Pneumonia.com and a German entity with healthcare clients owns Bronchitis.com.
DomainGang, IschemicHeartDisease.com has a small For Sale link to GoDaddy at the bottom.
    😉
