A little over a month ago, Coffee.CLUB founder, Bill McClure was distraught over the loss of a domain to the person who had inquired about it.
Despite negotiations that placed McClure’s asking price for the domain, PlanningAhead.com to $10,000 dollars, the other party used the services of GoDaddy to secure it at drop.
For a domain that McClure spent about $7k to acquire, that loss was substantial, particularly to a person he considers a friend.
It seems that the unwritten code of ethics prevailed, however, as McClure announced the deposit of a $10,000 dollar check by the domain’s buyer, yesterday.
“Right Prevails. Doing what is right behind closed doors is called Ethics Ethics and money will always come into conflict. It may be legal, but not right. Jammie and I experienced just this when we lost the domain PlanningAhead.com in late December. Business Ethics and treating people right is no joke. As a supporting member of ICA ( Internet Commerce Associationion), I promote the code of ethics between domineers. We live by believing the ethics of strangers, can be as strong as the trust of friends. Today, we have a ten thousand dollar check for the lost domain deposited in our bank account for the sale of PlanningAhead.com. Dispute is settled.”
Congratulations to Bill McClure for being so understanding, and for the other party for acknowledging the closing of this domain acquisition with an ethical outcome.
