If you’re using Google as your default search engine, chances are that you’re either typing your searches in the Chrome URL field, or go to Google.com.
Millions of Google users are “addicted” to using the top search engine for anything, from “how to make a Greek salad” to what is a domain name authorization code.
Regional web sites for Google show up when searching for a locale: For example, “Google Russia,” would bring up Google.ru as its top result, while for “Google France“, Google.fr shows up at the top – and so on and so forth.
With that in mind, an Indian entrepreneur has beat Google in its own SERP game.
When Googling “Google USA“, the top result is MyGoogleHomePage.com, a web site that monetizes its traffic by providing Custom Search results via Google.
Naturally, one would have to wonder why Google allows this kind of use of its famous trademark since 2009, and we have no answer other than: Perhaps they don’t know. 😀
In an interesting twist, “Google US” returns Google.com as the top result, with MyGoogleHomePage.com at the #2 spot.
Many thanks to Vinay for this great tip.
Nice observation there. Concerning the Google trademark, Ofocurse they know but they don’t just give a damn about it so far the site is still for them and not against them. Assuming, the site provide search results from another engine, then it would have been a different ball game entirely. Also, the site have a disclaimer at its footer.
Bravo… one more great example of extraordinary Indian Brain / Talent. did you people check myGooglehomepage.com website ? almost there is nothing in there. this person has design and utilized free resources keeping all elements within Google Policies / Terms and Conditions. as domain age is above six years and Google is allowing them to use their trade mark. In fact this website is working in favor of Original Google. at the bottom Disclaimer clearly mentions its non-Google website.
as my further research says, all the Search queries are directly diverted to Google Search without any data collection or without any modification from myGooglehomepage.com . one thing I dint understood is that, there is no Ads on this site nor sponsor listings on search result. its purely Ads free. its making me think why Google as well owner of this website not making any revenue ? both are loosing easy genuine money.
stats seems, for mygooglehomepage.com is above 2million hits / Queries. Google Inc should Award this Indian talent.
Hillary – Google would never “allow them to use their trade mark”. These guys operate on the lack of knowledge by Google. Nice try though.
Dear DomainGang…
first of all did you check the website ? there is nothing wrong in the website. yes they are using TradeMark but I have seen that in some special cases Google has allowed to use their features on other website which are not associated with them. I liked the concept very much.
tell me one thing why their is so much visitors on mygooglehomepage.com when Google Exists ? simply because designer has integrated facebook, twitter along with Google Goodies. I Prefer using my default homepage on lappy and on my phone as mygooglehomepage.com rather than Google, com its helpful for me. another thing i am getting pure search result on Search through this website. Google shows me “Sponsored ads” first in search result. and many other features this website has. i am not associated with these Indian Guys nor a spoke person for them. but what is right is right… be positive, Appreciate good things around and on the web.
each one has their own view, and according to me Mygooglehomepage.com “Rocks”
Hillary – So it’s ok to use another company’s famous trademarks? It’s only a matter of time before they get in trouble with the Big ‘G’.
There is no harm, forget about legalities. myGooglehomepage.com is adding value to Google.com they are sending Search Queries to Google.com only. they are not misusing Name nor any monetary benefits are involved. but same time end users like me are enjoying less click, speed, all in one homepage. and for free 🙂
Hillary – One less click? What is shorter, Google.com or myGooglehomepage.com ? And the search is monetized https://developers.google.com/custom-search/
I foresee only trouble for this domain due to the inclusion of ‘Google’. Read the terms: https://developers.google.com/terms/
what ever. i am much more comfortable with mygooglehomepage.com rather than Google.com just because they have trademark registered dose not mean they owns all other words combinations with word GOOGLE. in fact Google should be thankful to this small website for sending so many searches to their Server. in legal terms you are Right thats what our society system here in USA says. but on moral grounds you need to see the intention behind. even if they have any small monitory benefits from “Google custom search” its their hard earn / talent and they deserve. they are not making fool. ads are shown by Google only on mygooglehomepage.com and same time Advertisers / Adword users are getting genuine Potential clients. if you check search result page you will see its on Google.com/cse?q= so even if user is searching through mygooglehomepage.com its actually on Google.com .
again I will say mygooglehomepage is like Compliment for Google.com . and people at Google Inc understand that. else Giant like Google had long back Crush this Indian website. from my point of view all the things are positive for all the Parties unless you see it from negative legal side. all the best wishes to mygooglehomepage.com and hope to grow more in future.
Hillary – Apparently you own that domain and clasping at straws. Google is a famous trademark and evading Google’s attention will most likely end with a UDRP. There is no justification for this type of activity on another company’s trademarks. Read the terms and conditions.
funny if you think that so. “you are unnecessary involving me in debate so that you get free contain, what ever I am Typing for free over here. for this present webpage. so that you get more hits / visitors”. how it feels if I say so?
any ways all the best wishes for you. we have nothing to do with both the websites. what ever I said is purely what i feel so. signing off… office time.
Hillary – If the shoe fits, wear it. Your arguments about the Google mark lack any legal background. But don’t take my word for it, contact Google and ask them if it’s ok to use their famous mark.
