It was to be expected.
After NBA powerplayer, LeBron James announced his departure from the Cleveland Cavaliers earlier this week, his fans were left with a dropped jaw.
LeBron James, already a multi-million dollar earner from his awesome skills in the national basketball championship, moves to Miami Heat – where not only the money is but also cheerleaders are smoking hot.
Upon hearing the news over the television networks, Frank Harpic – a domainer investor with a known track record of cybersquatting the names of famous athletes – lashed out.
“God d*amn! I can’t believe this sh*t, the selfish son of a b*tch! All that Cleveland has done for him, and now he leaves for Miami Heat?? I have so many Cleveland domains with LeBron’s name, making some nice profit from the clicks and now I have to start all over again, mother ****er!”
Domainers often register combinations of team and athlete names in order to maximize earnings from search engine traffic and type-ins. Sometimes displaying PPC ads, other times using affiliate networks that sell sports merchandise, these domain squatters make a good buck from this questionable technique.
“I’m done, I’m finished”, said Harpic, pushing the cancellation button at his registrar for about 40 domains related to LeBron James. “I’m deleting this junk and by God, I am not touching names of sports people again, I am so done with squatting!”
Thank goodness he’s done. good riddance!
