The DropCatch auction of Dojo.org ended moments ago, and the winner took home a premium domain keyword.
So what is a “dojo” then? According to Wikipedia:
“Dojo is a hall or space for immersive learning or meditation. This is traditionally in the field of martial arts, but has been seen increasingly in other fields, such as meditation and software development. The term literally means “place of the Way” in Japanese. “
The auction at DropCatch ended up at $5,000 dollars, an amazing price for a .ORG domain that not only dropped, but was parked for several years.
Could it be that its previous owner forgot to renew it?
Thanks to DomainTools and its historic WHOIS, it appears that the last visible owner of Dojo.org was Richard Meyer of American Marketing and based in Maryland. He was using a Comcast email address, and this might be the core issue here.
Such “old school” email addresses often get hacked, or get dropped by the Internet service provider that might be acquired or merged into another entity.
Definitely a good chunk of money for DropCatch! Meanwhile, dojo.com is available at the Uni Market.
