Cappuccino.com was the highest domain sale of the week at Sedo, with a $49,000 dollar price tag.
Not bad for a caffeine loaded keyword, and the new owner is Spanish restaurant chain Grupo Cappuccino.
Operating from the domain GrupoCappuccino.com, the Palma de Mallorca group acquired Cappuccino.com as a redirect to its brand. It doesn’t seem to be a case of domain rebranding, as the keyword “cappuccino” is in direct reference to coffee, while the brand is sitting solid on the two keywords that mean “Cappuccino group.”
The domain appears to have been sold by Media Options, and while the relatively low selling price might surprise some, it might be indicative of an opportunity to sell during the time of the Coronavirus pandemic.
The fun part: Media Options most likely acquired the domain Cappuccino.com from Elliot Silver’s Embrace outfit, for an undisclosed sum around December 2018. The domain was pointed to MediaOptions.com and subsequently to DNX.com.
Registered in 1995, Cappuccino.com was in the possession of Roasters Coffee, until Elliot Silver’s acquisition.
Congratulations to all parties involved in this great domain sale!
Huh…how do you sppell Kapucino.??
So, Media Options are domainers? Or domain brokers?
Good reporting. Would be curious what the spread is between what Media Options paid vs what they sold it for. My guess is they about doubled their money before Sedo’s commission.
Tony – That’d be a good speculation.
Seems cheap.
Also wonder if they bought cappuccino.es which sold right before that.
