Dot .GOV platform scheduled to go down tomorrow

The General Services Administration (GSA) is gearing up for the completion of the transition of .GOV domains to the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency.

The agency has been looking for support services to help manage the .GOV registry as it takes control of the top-level domain from GSA.

Meanwhile, the .GOV platform will go down in a scheduled maintenance tomorrow. The platform’s downtime won’t be affecting the availability of .GOV domains:

The .GOV Domain Name Registration website will undergo a scheduled maintenance on Wednesday, January 12, 2022, after 9 PM EST. You may not be able to access domains.dotgov.gov to make new domain name requests or modifications for a period of time during the maintenance window. All .GOV domain names will resolve normally throughout the maintenance.

Improved security is the primary goal here, after a series of embarrassing incidents in recent years, involving .GOV domains.
