Dan.com puts a pause to Domain API

Dan.com has paused its Domain API, according to verified sources.

The service provided registrars, domain marketplaces & other services in the domain industry with a feature-rich API to “build your own domain marketplace or enhance your current service by offering secondary market features at your registrar, for example, with limited development & resources required.”

There are three tiers of API implementers:

  • Lightweight (Best option for Small companies)
  • Medium (Best for Medium sized companies) (Beta)
  • Advanced (Best for Enterprises that handle +$5M in domain sales a year)

An example of API use would be that of a private domain name marketplace, such as DNWE, that uses the API to handle sales via the Dan.com platform.

There is no information on the current status of existing API users; the API service has been paused for new partners, however.

A Nonnie Mouse – Good to know, not sure if such access will remain indefinitely. If you have an active contract it might not be renewed at the time of expiration.
