Guy left Dan.com a bad review thanks to a dropped domain

A reviewer of Dan.com on Trustpilot left a bad review, although it never involved any services rendered by the popular domain-selling platform.

The review said:

“RealWorld app for Meta Quest 2 does not exist as a real app. Reddit’s post was a scam. Request Removal.”

What was the comment left by Alec Heesacker (most likely an alias) all about?

Very simply, the domain RealWorld.app was registered in the past and during its short-lived existence (2020-2023) the domain served as the home of a VR app called RealWorld that was discontinued. Eventually, the same software developer launched a company that is called Wooorld.io.

Whoever picked up the domain name was counting on existing traffic to justify an asking price of almost $30,000 dollars. The domain is listed for sale on Dan.com, hence the implied relationship leading to the bad review.

The domain RealWorld.app was also shared in a Reddit post by the same reviewer, who seems to focus on reviewing two types of services primarily: restaurants that sell donuts/burgers/fries and app creators serving apps via the Google Store.
