When you spell a famous movie company name in a way that it can cause confusion, it might lead to a UDRP.
Lucasfilm Entertainment Company filed one against the owners of the domain Lukasfilm.com, a domain registered in 2014. At some point in the past, the domain was owned by a Swedish individual named “Lukas,” who let it drop.
In their statement, the Complainant said:
“Complainant further contends that Respondent is engaged in typosquatting, which provides additional evidence that Respondent lacks rights and legitimate interests in the <lukasfilm.com> domain name.”
The case was rather obvious, as the domain was parked and the topmost result was “Lucasfilm.” Furthermore, the Respondent defaulted by not responding to this UDRP.
Sandra J. Franklin, Panelist at the National Arbitration Forum, delivered the decision that the domain Lukasfilm.com should be transferred to the Complainant.
